Malachite
Malachite may be the best-known stone in the world, mined with enormous difficulty from deposits in Zambia and Zaire (modern-day Congo). Its colors include all the shades of green, which is where it got its name, from the greek μαλάχη, meaning “mallow” for its likeness to the leaves of this invaluable natural remedy.
